Hair Tips

Madonna's Waves

Madonna’s latest look is giving everyone something to talk about. To promote the release of her new CD, the pop idol reunited with her hair buddy Garren for a Vanity Fair cover shoot. To create her deep, luscious waves, he spritzed strands with his Designing Spray Tonic and set the hair by coiling two-and-a-half inch sections around his fingers and clipping them into place. Around the hairline, he switched to face-framing, “semi-skip waves,” which he secured, and then dried the hair completely with a diffuser. Finally, he removed the clips, raked through the hair with a large wooden comb and touched up the tips with a curling iron for a clean, crisp finish. He reveals that Madonna’s naturally wavy texture supported the style but “if the hair is really straight, you can do the whole look with a curling iron."

At Larry's, we suggest you use the Paul Mitchell Super Sculpt hair sculpting lotion in clean damp hair, set the hair on 21/2 inch rollers, dry the hair completely under a hooded dryer, or let air dry completely. Finally, remove the rollers just before leaving for your activity, rake through the hair with a large tooth comb and touched up the tips with a curling iron, if needed, for a clean, crisp finish. Waiting until the last minute ensures that your curls will last longer as they relax over the course of the day's or evening's activities. If you do this style on clean, dry hair, use the Paul Mitchell Fast Dry Sculpting Spray to spritz sections of hair before rolling, set the hair on 21/2 inch, or larger, HOT rollers, let air dry and cool down completely. Finally, remove the rollers just before leaving for your activity, rake through the hair with a large tooth comb and touched up the tips with a curling iron, if needed, for a clean, crisp finish. Have Fun!
